Privacy Policy

ChaiRaiser is a fundraising platform for the Jewish community. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We try to collect as little as we need to run campaigns well.

What we collect

• From campaign organizers: your name, email address, and the campaign content you create (title, story, images, goal, category).
• From donors: your name, email address, the amount you give or pledge, and any optional message or dedication you write. If you choose to give anonymously, your name is hidden from public pages but is still stored so the organizer can thank you and issue a receipt.
• Card numbers — never. ChaiRaiser never sees, stores, or transmits your card number on our servers. When card payments are processed, they are handled by Stripe, our payment processor; your card details go directly to Stripe. When a campaign runs in pledge mode, no payment details are collected at all — a pledge is simply a recorded promise to give.
• Basic technical data: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) used for security, rate limiting, and keeping the site running.

How we use it

• To run campaigns: show progress totals, display donations on the campaign page (name, amount, and message — unless you chose anonymous), and power features like matching pledges, team totals, and the dedication wall.
• To send transactional email: donation confirmations, receipts, and organizer notifications. We do not send marketing email you didn't ask for.
• To let organizers follow up: the organizer of a campaign you support can see your name, email, and amount so they can thank you and, for pledges, arrange collection.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers. We share it only with:

• The campaign organizer you donated or pledged to (your name, email, and amount).
• Service providers we use to run the platform: Supabase (database and hosting), Stripe (payment processing, when payments are enabled), and Resend (transactional email). Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
• Legal requirements: if we are required to by law.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies that are necessary for the site to work — for example, a session cookie that keeps campaign organizers signed in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Your choices

• You can donate or pledge anonymously — your name will not appear publicly.
• You can ask us to correct or delete your personal information by emailing [email protected]. Note that donation records the organizer already received, and records we must keep for accounting or legal reasons, may be retained.

Children

ChaiRaiser is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Continued use of the platform after a change means you accept the updated policy.
